JW's have more of a bondage-hood than real brotherhood. They are forced to be together and friends are inflicted on them, not chosen by them. Once a prisoner is released, there is no way for the other prisoners to contact him/her from the inside. I think the word brotherhood is overly used. A true brotherhood takes years to develope. It is impossible to build such a relationship with strangers because brothers know each other so well that they are anything but strangers. What the congregation has is acquaintance-hood.

Do Witnesses have a Stronger Brotherhood than Christendom Does?
by gumby inthis came up in discussion between me and a fellow ex-dub buddy of mine.. as jw's, we had a brotherly unity.....at least many of us did.
if we were going somewhere and needed a witness to watch our place....even stay at our place, we had no reserves about being ripped off by them.
they were closer than some families members oftentimes and we even preferred being around them as opposed to "wordly" family members.

The ULTIMATE APOLOGIA
by Terry inthe most complicated, transcendant (outside of time and space) mind in the universe is the universe.. that is an antimony, by the way.. this mind we can call "god".
it simply "is".. what the consciousness of this mind considers is more real than the dreams we have or the plans we make.. that is the premise of what follows.
read on..... this mind (all) is considering creating heavens and earth.

I believe in the hard, solid life that we are living here and now. I don't think we are in some sort of matrix or pretend non-life. I personally know that I am not just someone's imagination. This is post-modernist thinking. I'm a modern thinker. I have a friend who thinks we may be in a matrix. I respect your right to believe what you want but also think that idea is in left field somewhere, unless I misunderstood the whole thing, then forget what I posted. And yes, I would love to have whatever you are smoking, too:)

"The Sound of Music" not theocratic enough?
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inone of the local congregations is having a farewell "concert" for their co who's leaving.
of course, the book study conductor felt obligated to take control by appointing himself screener of all performances before the event (how shocking!
what's wrong with the song as is?

Ok, here goes:
Barney is a dinosaur from our imagination...
And when he's tall he's what we call a dinosaur sensation!
Barney can be your friend too if you just make believe him....

Name the 'Finest Hypocrites' you know.
by AK - Jeff ini knew of an elder who ran a janitorial business for decades here [surprize] - his primary employees were his kids, ranging in age from 3 or 4 to teenager at various times.
he would bring in the whole family, they would spread out and empty bags, vacuum, and dust.
in a flash they are out and off to the book study or whatever.. he was able to 'witness wipe' several offices after 5 o'clock and before the 7 o'clock meeting times.

That's easy: George Burns in the Northwest. I vote him as most damaging elder. Most damaging CO's: Dull and Newel. Anyone remember them?

Do they DA people who quit going?
by White Dove indo the elders da people who quit going?
i quit going two years ago and when sisters came to my door one time and asked why, i told them that the elders are no different from the pharisees and that i don't want anymore to do with it.
no elders have ever visited me concerning this or any other matter.

Whew! I was worried because the OM book said that a person DA's himself if he quits going to meetings and stops participating in activities. I quit all of that. I thought that all DA behavior meant that it was announced if the behavior was found out by anyone.

nvr,
You are one of the reasons I keep coming back to the board! I don't believe anyone needs to be right. Just share and help each other grow.
